Below are a selection
of sample gear lists for a variety of trips, including
expedition type outings in Alaska or the Himalaya,
or shorter duration climbs such as trips to New
Zealand, South America, or within the lower 48
(14ners). We will be working on adding other list
from guides, guide services and/or their clients,
as well as from other climbers willing to share
a good list. Lists can be helpful in organizing
a group, and sharing with those who may not have
had experience putting together a multi-week climbing
trip in a foreign country. If you have a good
list that has been working for you, and are willing
to share it with us, please email us an attached
excel or word file containing your list to: geartalk(at
symbol)bradleyalpinist(dot)com. We hope that by
our providing these sample lists, you gain some
ideas for your own, or can customize one of ours
for yourself.
Some of the lists below
have incorporated excel formulas to calculate
the exact weight of all the gear you are thinking
about taking. It can help you pre-organize by
duffle bag to comply with airline restrictions
(50lb limit per back), and by who in your group
will be carrying what.
TIP:
It’s a good idea to pre-weigh your gear
duffels before going to the airport. We do offer
an Expedition
Hanging Scale by Feedback Sports on our site,
which you can hang up in your garage and weigh
your bags. Perhaps you can even take the hanging
scale with you on trips to help divide the weight
between climbers once you get there and gear up.
